How to read an agent's USDC payment on Basescan and Solscan

When a tracker and an agent disagree, the block explorer is the tiebreaker. Knowing what to look at on Basescan and Solscan turns a vague dispute about spend into a thirty-second check.
On Base: look at token transfers, not just the transaction
A Base transaction page shows who sent it and any native-token value, which for an agent paying in USDC is usually zero. The payment itself is in the token transfer list: sender, recipient, amount and the token contract.
Check the token contract against the official USDC address for Base. Lookalike tokens with the same name and symbol exist, and a transfer of one is not spend in the real asset.
On Solana: find the token balance changes
A Solana transaction can bundle several instructions. Look for the token balance changes or the SPL token transfer, and confirm the mint is the official USDC mint.
Remember that transfers move between token accounts, each owned by a wallet. The owner address you track is not the same string as the token account that appears in some views.
Match amount, time and status
Compare three things with your ledger: the amount (remembering USDC has six decimals), the timestamp in the same timezone, and the status. A failed transaction moves nothing even though it appears in the explorer and costs a fee.
If all three match, the ledger is right and the question moves to why the agent made that payment. If they do not, you have found the bug in minutes instead of days.
